Winona Ryder professionally Winona Ryder was born on Winona Minnesota. It was her parents after the town where they were born. Michel Horowitz was her father as well as Cynthia Palmer, his mother, were both authors and editors. Ryder is a Jew. Ryder believes that her father came from her Jewish heritage. Ryder has two half-siblings younger than her, Jubal and Sunyata. Ryder's parents moved out of Mendocino County in California when she was seven years aged. They were in a home that had no electric power. Ryder became an avid read because they had no television. Ryder started taking classes in acting in the American Conservatory Theatre in 1983 at the age of 12. Her first role was a success on the big screen in 1986 at the age of 15 old. Ryder suffered bullying in the school she attended. Ryder believed that her future as an actress would bring about change. However, it didn't occur. However, she continued to pursue her goals. She got her break with Tim Burton's Beetlejuice in 1988. Ryder kept playing successful roles in various films. Ryder was nominated twice for Academy Awards one for her performance as a character in The Age of Innocence (1993).
